River’s Edge Counseling

George Koussoglou, LCSW

Where outward change begins with internal connection, presence, and healing.

How we’ll work together

As a level 3 trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, I provide IFS therapy based out of Richmond, Virginia. Whether you are wanting to start therapy for the first time, or have tried other therapeutic approaches with little success, I can help.

Come meet with me in person in Richmond, or virtually through out Virginia where we can collaboratively begin to understand/be with the parts of you that help get you through the day and the parts of you that cary the burdens of unwitnessed overwhelming life experiences.

I’ll work at a pace that feels right and safe for you. My approach to therapy is guided by understanding the process from the inside out. Therefore I would never expect my clients to be emotionally vulnerable in ways that I would not be myself. We are in this together.

Welcome to the first step in your healing journey.

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been carrying things on your own for a long time. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for something to shift, you don’t have to navigate it alone. When you’re ready, I’m here to listen with care, steadiness, and respect. We can start with a low-pressure consultation to make sure you feel comfortable moving forward.

I look forward to spending time with you.

Virtual therapy is just as intentional and relational as in-person work.

What Is Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based therapy model that understands we all have different “parts” inside us — parts that protect, parts that carry pain, and a core Self that is calm and capable of healing.

Rather than fighting anxiety, anger, or perfectionism, IFS therapy helps you build compassion and understanding toward the parts of you that have been working hard to protect you.

IFS therapy is especially effective for:

   •   Trauma and PTSD

   •   Anxiety and panic

   •   Relationship challenges

   •   Emotional overwhelm

   •   Long-standing patterns that feel stuck

Why Choose River’s Edge Counseling?

   •   A calm, grounded presence

   •   Respect for your internal system

   •   Gentle pacing

   •   Deep curiosity instead of judgment

Healing does not mean becoming someone new. It means accessing the steadiness that already exists within you.
